I have a curvy sister and she has curvy friends,” Snell said. “When I would shop with her I would get so disgusted and upset. If you walk through department stores, you probably see 2,000 different collections for different designers and then you go upstairs and its dismal in the plus size department.

First thing you need to learn your body. Learn your body, and when you shop, shop for the largest part of your body, so that particular garment will hang with ease in that area, and then you tailor back everything else to fit you properly.

I took a plane to the big Apple to begin a new chapter in my life!

It has been my mission to change the plus-size/curvy landscape in fashion for quite some time. I’m very excited to announce that I will be the host and Co-Executive Producer of “Curve Appeal” a new television series for the BET Network. The official announcement was made in New York this month to an industry audience by Queen Latifah.

“Curve Appeal” is a tremendous opportunity for me to showcase women with curves and share my expertise for chic, sophisticated style from designer brands to affordable brands.

Shopping for the perfect jean can be extremely daunting but it doesn’t have to be. On this segment of the show I featured audience member Jeantervention makeovers that prove what that right fit for your curves can do.

Costume Design: The Queen Latifah Halloween Show 2014 – “Maleficent”

Preparing for this season’s Halloween episode was a labor of love for me. I was very excited that Queen Latifah wanted to be Disney’s “Maleficent” for the show. I loved the movie and it was a pleasure to dive into such an extraordinary and unique costume.

The Mother Plucker Feather Company painstakingly constructed the wings based on my design. The finished wings spanned approximately 6ft high by 8ft wide. It took several days and the finished product was so massive it had to be delivered directly to the stage.

635503377615840108-Halloween-Queen-LatifahI designed the gown to compliment the wings with a combination of leather, silk, exotic feathers and the sculpted headdress. It took my three assistants and myself to secure the wings onto her.

Every bit of effort was worth it to see how much she enjoyed herself in the costume.

I think Queen Latifah and I are such a good pair because the show gives me an opportunity to dress her in current and modern clothing,” Snell said. “Women want to know how she does it and where she gets it. And she has no apologies for being a size-16 woman. That is part of her brand.

It’s nice to work and do something you love and change ideals of how women should be looked at,” he said. “The curvy market has changed, but not as much as it needs. I’m working on that.
