Always For Me Timothy Snell Collection “Best Of”

Creating swimwear that makes a woman feel confident in her own skin was a top priority for Snell. “It’s about the fit and exposing what you’re comfortable showing. When a swimsuit fits and looks amazing, it eliminates any hesitation.” Snell continues “Rule of thumb: To feel confident in your choices, look for cuts that accent your best assets.”

It’s 2017 Curvy ladies and I wish you all the best for this new year! I have many style surprises in store for you and will keep you posted as they unfold!

I’ve been working with the brand Lafayette 148 for a long time and it’s no secret I appreciate their sophisticated and modern silhouettes. Recently, they featured an interview about my work in curvy fashion, my favorite fashion picks from their 2017 collection and what the future holds for Curvy fashion.

Lafayette 148: What is the biggest challenge for styling curvy women?
The biggest challenge is a lack of amazing products. It has become 1,000% better, but there is such a long way to go. For example, the shopping experience is dismal; more retailers need to put forth more effort in creating an experience. Through clothing presentation, lighting, visuals, music etc – create a hip factor.

Spiraling Jacquard Reversible Geometric Darby Jacket

This fashionable jacket is like wearing art, and on top of it – it’s reversible. You have not one but two options when wearing this look – over an evening gown for the holidays or over jeans and a t-shirt, or blouse for the daytime.

Appearance: Steve Harvey Show – Curvy Girl Fashion with Tim Snell

screen-shot-2016-10-17-at-10-44-48-amAlways funny and entertaining, the Steve Harvey show aired a one-hour special celebrating the Curvy Body. I had the pleasure of returning to the show to do two segments, a “dress for less” fashion segment and a “date night” makeover for a lovely lady.

“This man, this man right here is THE man in Hollywood. Listen to me when I tell you this, when it comes to Curvy fashions this is the man that dresses them all. He styles Queen Latifah, Amber Riley, Angela Bassett – just to name a few. This is THE man in Hollywood. Game Over.”

– Steve Harvey

For the fashion show segment, I presented major red carpet trends and re-created the looks for up to 75% less. Brands are finally recognizing the need for quality pieces that are on trend for the curvy market.

For the next segment I worked with Anna, a guest who needed a “date night” look that would make her feel beautiful and confident. She wanted something feminine and sexy inspired by Melissa McCarthy’s lacy red carpet look.

I chose a fit and flare silhouette to accentuate her hourglass figure and THE color trend of the season “Bordeaux”. Anna was ready for a night out feeling confident, beautiful and feminine.

Trending Now: The Supersize Cuff

The fashion editor in me always finds inspiration from my favorite magazines and this feature is an example. I found it in the pages of the September issue of InStyle. It’s one of those little touches that can give last season’s wardrobe a quick update and it works for every body type.

Michael Kors features the look in his latest collection:

A great tip for curvy ladies:

Purchase a men’s dress shirt with french cuffs and have your local cleaners fit it to your body. Wear the cuffs down with or without cuff links.

The Chunky Heel: The Season’s Latest Shoe Trend

photo-15The TREND to indulge in is the chunky heel. For those of you who don’t necessarily like to wear a skinny heel, the chunky heel is a sturdier but sexy alternative. In a sophisticated nuetral or with stylized details there are plenty of options from expensive to inexpensive.

Style Diary: Style Code Live – “Military Madness”

The Camo look is a fashion classic and the way you rock the look keeps it on trend. The folks at Style Code Live invited me to come by and talk about key items to make the trend contemporary and chic.

“…Fashion is to be played with but only with the right elements…” – Tim Snell

(click link to find to shop each of the looks online)

Look #1 – The Military Jacket + Black Dress + Stacked Bootie + Vintage Pins

The drawstring creates an hourglass silhoutte that accentuates the waist and brings a feminine look to an otherwise masculine jacket. The chunky heeled bootie works for women who may not want to wear a skinnier heel.

Look #2 – The Camo Capelet + White Tunic + Slouched Pant + Suede Heel

The Capelet is a huge trend shown here in a camo print. It can be worn with a crisp white button down shirt, tunic, turtle neck, tee shirt or contrasting camo print. The Slouched pant brings an urban feel to the look accented with the sophistication of a suede heel. Don’t just wear the military look during the day, wear it in the evening as well.

Look #3 –  The Bomber Jacket + Tee + Pleated Skirt + Bootie

The Bomber jacket is a military classic and this outfit feminizes what would normally be a masculine piece. Many curvy women prefer the look of an a-line skirt and the placement of these pleats flatter every body type. The Southwestern bootie trend is back and this pair completes a flattering monochromatic look with a pop of color at the top.

In the May 12th article “Fat Thighs Matter” by Frenchie Davis for the curvy actress/singer gives a shout out to “Curvy Style With Timothy Snell”.

Curvy Style is a series on CentricTV that documents one of Hollywood’s hottest celebrity stylists on his fashion-forward journey to help thicker-than-a-Snicker celebs, and everyday women, feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable in their skin. This is a beautiful thing.

The show is a beautiful thing, because for as long as I can remember, plus size women have typically been excluded from dialogue surrounding fashion and beauty. For years, we’ve consistently been told, both verbally and nonverbally, by the style industry that we dare not have the audacity to feel beautiful or sexy.

Style Diary: Queen Latifah At The 67th Emmy’s – Behind The Scenes For Curve Appeal

67th-Emmy-Awards-Poster-681x383 The 67th Emmy Awards ceremony was historically diverse and the fashion did not disappoint. I had the pleasure of dressing Queen Latifah as a nominated performer.  The planning started as far back as June, from working with designers and painstakingly choosing the right gown to the selection of the foundation garment that complimented her curves. Finally, diamonds that sparkle and the perfect shoes and handbag.

After over 15 years of red carpet glamour this day was much different than any other because it marked the first segment taping for my new television show “Curve Appeal” (working title). In addition to making sure everything was on point for longtime client Queen Latifah’s arrival. I had to make sure to hit my mark in front of the camera talking chic and curvy fashion. My day was a bit mind-blowing and unforgettable.
In a very short time I’ll be bringing you lots of sophisticated style inspiration that celebrates curves from size 16 and beyond!

Style Diary: Timothy Snell + The Torrid Model Search 2015

, , , , , ,

The Torrid Model Search was such an unforgettable experience, over 800 women came for the opportunity to be chosen as a model with the brand.  What an amazing day and a pleasure to work with the beautiful and curvy model Lornalitz to encourage the ladies, celebrate the event and hangout with the Torrid team.
I met so many amazing women who were confident, outrageous, hopeful, nervous, beautiful, funny and intelligent. It was so exciting to see so many hopefuls packed inside the store ready to learn about Torrid’s 2015 denim collection and two lucky winners received a head to toe makeover with me.
Torrid has one of the most extensive collections of fashionable denim for the curvy body on the market, from washes and treatments to dyes and cuts with a fab fit. The ladies weren’t just shopping for denim but putting together complete outfits from underpinnings to tops, jackets and dresses, jewelry to shoes and handbags.
